Folic acid belongs to the B group of vitamins and is absorbed in the small intestine. Its name comes from the word folium - leaf. As the name suggests, its sources include leafy vegetables such as spinach, cabbage, lettuce, cauliflower, Brussels sprouts and broccoli.
Folic acid is needed by every cell in our body from conception to old age.
