Glycine

Glycine is an endogenous amino acid that serves as one of the fundamental building blocks of proteins present in the human body. It is a component of many protein structures, including collagen, one of the body's most important structural proteins.

In addition to its structural function, glycine also participates in the formation of biologically active compounds, such as glutathione (one of the most important tripeptides with antioxidant properties), heme, purines, and creatine. It is also used as a substrate in the synthesis of other amino acids and intermediate compounds in metabolic processes.
